American Avocet - Consul, SK
These unusual waders are very specialized feeders. The American Avocet collects it's food by waving their peculiarly shaped bill side to side along the water's surface collecting insects and other critters that might be happen to touch the sensitive beak. There is only one species of Avocet in North America but they do have counter parts in South America, Europe, Africa and Australia.
