Identifying flycatchers in this group of old world flycatchers is up there with identifying sandpipers and juvenile gulls. As long as you have some pictures and some serious time on your hands it is possible to land on the right bird. I was lucky enough to also see a family member in Kenya called the White-eyed Slaty Flycatcher, which was slightly easier to identify. This particular individual is just in Thailand for the winter and will head back up to China and southern Russia or there abouts for breeding season. This was taken in the salt fields south of Bangkok. in Khok Kham. where we were here looking for the elusive Spoon-billed Sandpiper.
