High in the Andean Mountains there is a reserve set up for viewing the vulnerable condor native to the area. Tambo Condor Reserve is also home to a multitude of hummingbirds and the Black flowerpiercer. The flowering plants the lodge owners have set up around the lodge and cabins attract both nectar eating species. A closer look reveals a very sharply pointed bill which is used to make a hole at the base of a flower so that they can access the nectar without needing the specialized long bill of a hummingbird.
