If you are looking for long tails, this hummingbird takes the award. The long trailing black feathers serve two purposes including steering and attracting a mate. This male and two females spent some time at the observation deck at Tambo Condor Reserve. The females have a much shorter tail and have white speckled chests. The Black-tailed Trainbearer lives at higher elevations in the Andes mountains in Columbia, Ecuador and Peru.
