Cackling Goose - Sardis Pond, BC
This small goose used to be considered the same species as Canada goose and given subspecies names like Taverner's and Aleutian. Those names are now part of the full species of Cackling goose which are found in the summer around the arctic circle in North America and Western Russia. We see a great deal of Cackling geese here in the lower mainland and Fraser Valley over the winter months.
