Cattle Egret - Panorama Ridge, BC
A wonderful surprise some time ago when this Cattle Egret showed up north of the Canadian border. My friend found this bird on our construction site checking the newly made ditches for worms in the winter. He became a bit of a celebrity but unfortunately didn't make it during the cold weather. These birds were not found in North America until 1953 when they migrated north from South America where they magically appeared in 1877. The are originally from Africa.
