Chestnut-sided Warbler - Catbird Slough, BC
On a trip out to Pitt River to find our American Redstarts for the year, we caught the sound of something a little different. I am not the greatest with warbler sounds that are familiar around the Greater Vancouver area, let alone different ones. I pulled out the phone and fired up The Merlin Bird ID App and low and behold, a Chestnut-sided warbler came up on the screen. I think I scared Carli with my excitement and told her we needed to find a bird right now! Sure enough, our target had found a fairly large caterpillar and stayed in the same spot long enough for a couple pictures. This bird was a lifer for Carli and a great bird for Vancouver anytime!
