Common Goldeneye - Vancouver, BC
With a golden eye it is hard to mistake this bird for any other duck out there. The green sheen on the head, round white cheek circle and the whiter flanks separate it from it's cousin the Barrow's goldeneye. This was taken on Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, Vancouver. The sky was just breaking free of the clouds making for an interesting coloring on the water.
