Eastern Wood-Pewee - Lake Barkley State Beach, KY
I am from the west coast of North America and have always hear the Western version of this bird and understand that it's name is from the sound that it makes while in the forest. I was somewhat mystified as to why PEEWEE until I heard the eastern version. It is very clear that the Peewee vocal is the reason these birds are named as they are. This was taken at Lake Barkley State Beach on a wood pile just a the bottom of the forested hill.
