One of the most notorious night time hunters is being very paternal watching over his mate in the nest across the way. This bird is sometimes called the "Tiger Owl" can be found in almost every habitat across North America including Swamps, Deserts, Mountains and Prairies. These owls can be seen in a variety of colors and shades. The west coast rainforest birds have a very dark gray coloring where as the desert and prairie birds are a very light brown or tan.
