The rarest goose species in the world is the Hawaiian Goose or Nene. This bird was thought to be ancestors of Brant's goose arrived on the islands some time ago. The cream neck and deep furrows within the coloring are the tell tale signs you are looking at this rare bird. They are only found on the Hawaiian islands and were almost extinct in the 1950's with only 30 birds remaining.. They have made a come back and number over 3000 birds on several of the islands.
