Horned Lark - Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty, BC
These little devils remind me of how the Greek god Mercury is always pictured, with the wings on his head. During breeding season, the horns are very visible which makes their name very understandable. We get a couple of visitors in Vancouver, mostly in the fall and, mostly near our shoreline. This lone bird was picking its way through the washed up eel grass on Tsawwassen's ferry jetty.
