Another rare spring visitor to the Fraser Valley on the way through. Lark sparrows are very particular about their habitat here in BC and are confined to the southern Sagebrush steppe and grasslands but on the way here from California they follow the coast until they get to the Fraser river and veer right. The markings on the head are very striking and make it very easy to identify. They are similar to most grassland sparrows where they walk at good speeds rather than hop.
