An early morning bird outing in Santa Rosa, New Mexico led us to Park lake and The Blue Hole. A bit of screeching I had never heard before had us looking in a dead tree in the parking lot looking at a lifer for both of us. Mississippi Kite had be on my list on the three trips to Texas previously but I never did get eyes on the bird. This time we were rewarded with not only an adult bird but two juveniles being fed in the tree over. The adult was hawking insects and flying them in for breakfast.
