So common, but still something captivating about these birds. They were a little hard to sneak up on as they did not like seeing vehicles of any sort near them. This one sat nicely however, on an anchor post for a barbed wire fence just out side of the Rock Creek Fish Hatchery in Nebraska. Mourning Doves are easy to identify sight by their pointed tail and the solid cream coloring and easier to tell by the sorrowful song they are named for.
