Wat Mahathat was not only a wonderful place to go for culture, but the birds were fantastic as well. Along the outer walls of the grounds we found several birds using the smooth top of the wall as a launching place from where to dart out and catch insects. This Oriental Magpie Robin was no exception. Being from North America makes the whole Thrush/Robin naming confusing when you head to Europe, Asia or Africa. Some of the robins there are actually old world flycatchers. At least that is where you can find this robin in the bird family tree.
