Pileated Woodpecker - Burnaby Lake, BC
Our biggest woodpecker, here in North America, is a resident of the swampy areas of Burnaby Lake. The Pileated wooodpecker is crow sized but can be difficult to spot sometimes perched up against the higher section of tree trunks, but all bets are off when they start dismantling the wood looking for food. The chips can fly with little effor when that large well-shaped beak gets put to work.
