Around the grounds of Wat Mahathat, the Royal Monastery that dates back to before Bangkok was even a thought, there are large moats with birds, lizards and Lotus plants. This cuckoo and its mate were making the rounds, using the Lotus flowers as perches to hawk insects in the large sections of water. Like other cuckoos, they lay their eggs in other birds nests leaving the raising to unsuspecting parent birds, sometimes half the fledglings size.
