True to this little birds name, the fancy green sparkling chest and the purple ears that wrap right around the throat is easy to identify. We found him a high elevation at the Tambo Condor Reserve where there was a host of hummingbirds in and around the feeders. This is the largest species of Violetear and can be found from the north end of the Andes almost to the south end. We had also had a bite to eat here as well, which turned out to be good food. We were happy to have it as it was a good distance from any other locations.
