Spotted Redshank - Pak Thale, TH

On our way south from Bangkok, we stopped at an eBird hotspot that was full to the brim with species. The salt flats were loaded with shore birds, including this wintering Redshank. The stunning color of the legs are a dead giveaway. The English name for legs is "shanks" which make sense as to the name of the bird. The spotted description comes from the bird in breeding colors. The breeding grounds take this bird north to the arctic circle in Europe and Asia.
