On the south end of Passage island just in between West Vancouver and Bowen Island you can find this rock loving sandpiper. These birds are in what is the end of breeding plumage. These stout legged birds are specialists in searching the shoreline on rocky outcrops for food. The breeding adults spend their summers in the alpine of Alaskan mountains tending to the young surfbirds. in the winter, Surfbirds can be found along the shorelines of the pacific coast from the extreme south of South America to the northern tip of Alaska.
