Bee Hummingbird - Playa Larga, Cuba Here is the very large and small reason for my last out of country trip. This is the smallest bird in the world and its name is the Bee Hummingbird. They live on the island of Cuba and can be found no where else on this planet. We found this little male in the town of Playa Larga at Casa Ana feeding in the garden of our host there. The little cylindrical tubes on his throat and head are pin feathers. These are the new feathers that he grows each year into the beautiful red colors he attracts his mate with. I have now seen the largest bird and the smallest bird in the world!! Michael W Klotz 2019 - www.TheBirdBlogger.com
